The Earth was Formless & Empty

The Earth was Formless and Empty

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Genesis 1:1–2)

When God created the Heavens and the earth, he had you in mind. The Word says that God knit you together in your mother’s womb (Ps. 139:13). His plan for you is to prosper and succeed (Jer. 29:11), not in the world’s view, but in his. The only way to truly achieve this is to accept him as Savior and worship him as Creator of all things. (Acts 17:24-31)

When God created the earth, it was formless and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. Before we accepted Christ, our hearts were empty and void. God’s Spirit was hovering over their surface, waiting to fill the emptiness inside. We all have the opportunity to ask Jesus to come in to our hearts and lives, and to fill that emptiness that lies within.

Do you sense the Spirit hovering over your heart? Ask Jesus to come in and fill that empty, formless place. Ask him to dwell inside, instead of just hovering over the surface of your life. He wants to change you into a new and beautiful being inside. Let Him be Lord of all so that he can penetrate and break through the deepest sin and darkest part of your heart and life.

Suggested Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
I need you in my life. Come into my heart and fill the emptiness with your Spirit, so much that nothing else can dwell there. I pray that sin will find its place somewhere else but not inside of me. Forgive me of the sins that bring me darkness. Thank you for your Spirit within me now. Amen
